Several distributed models from the previous survey were motivated by
the theory of punctuated equilibria [Eldredge and Gould, 1972] and the
adaptive landscape and shifting balance theory
[Wright, 1931,Wright, 1932].
This work is examined next
to provide a more thorough understanding of these models.
